Prix de Diane Longines

Crowning the year’s best filly

A dream come true

Since 1843, the Prix de Diane Longines has stood out as one of the high points of the racing calendar, blending tradition, prestige and performance.

This legendary race is reserved for 3-year-old fillies who are ready to sign their name in racing history. It is a veritable sporting challenge, where speed, endurance and strategy combine for an ever more spectacular finish.

On this legendary course, their whole career, their whole future is at stake, and a dream can come true for the winning filly.

The birth of a queen

Before dazzling on the course at Chantilly, every filly entered into the race has followed a carefully laid-out career path.
Born from bloodlines selected for their physical and mental qualities, they are guided by their owners, trainers, lads and jockeys, who watch over every stage of their preparation and development.

THE FILLY…
Zarigana, granddaughter of illustrious champion Zarkava – who was unbeaten in seven appearances, including the Prix de Diane 2008 and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe the same year – is dreaming of following in her ancestor’s hoofprints.

Trained at Chantilly by Francis-Henri Graffard, she is representing, like her ancestor, the prestigious silks of the Aga Khan, who has already notched up several Group 1 victories, the highest level of competition.

THE TRAINER…
Gianluca Bietolini – an Italian trainer originally from Rome, who has been based in Maisons-Laffitte since 2015 – has stars in his eyes when he talks about Zia Agnese: “Having a runner in the Diane, who has been working with her team towards this once-in-a-lifetime challenge, is the ultimate dream!”

In 2019, his other star horse, Grand Glory, clinched an impressive third place in the Diane.

THE JOCKEY…
Hollie Doyle went down in history in 2022 by becoming the first female jockey to win the Prix de Diane Longines, after 170 editions of the race!

Having already won several titles that same year in England, the young British jockey, who is a member of Europe’s flat racing elite (one of the rare mixed sports), dreams of winning again on the Chantilly course.

The Prix de Diane Longines joins the Arc Races!

With eight prestigious events in the Arc Races tour, France Galop is providing racing fans with a spectacular road to the Arc, with fast-track tickets to the world’s greatest horse race up for grabs.

The world’s greatest filly race has always been held in the birthplace of Chantilly racing. It all began in Chantilly!

In 1833, Prince Lobanoff and Messrs de Normandie, d’Hédouville, de Wagram and de Plaisance were on their way to a hunt.

On the way, they crossed a vast plain on horseback, stretching out in front of the Château de Chantilly and its Grandes Écuries. They noted the suppleness of the terrain and tested it in a friendly race won by Mr de Normandie, the future president of the Jockey Club.

These men had been seduced by English racing and were looking in vain for the ideal site to set up a racecourse capable of rivalling those in England. M de Normandie managed to secure the support of the Duc d’Orléans – one of Louis-Philippe’s sons and also a racing enthusiast – and they agreed to organise a race meeting the following spring. The Chantilly racecourse and its unique setting were launched!

Not far from the racecourse, the forest of Chantilly is home to the largest training centre dedicated to racehorses. Every morning, horses and trainers go out to exercise on the tracks maintained by France Galop.

This is where the champions prepare for competition.
